Re: Overclocking Nvidia Geforce 4mx 440 Video Card

Using just the Winfast utility supplied with the card, I took the core to 325 and the mem to 450. No problems, no crashes, nothing. After running the card at these settings for a couple of months, I replaced the HSF with an old P3 server heatsink, attaching the card's old fan. I added my own ramsinks bought from an electronics store. The Leadtek MX440 ram is rated at 4 ns, which gives you a max frequency of 250 single channel, thus 500MHz DDR. Sweet! I took the mem up to 500 and the core to 375. Remember, the stock settings are 275 core and 405 mem! The card runs just fine. If you increase either the core or the mem, artifacts appear, otherwise no problems. The card has been running at these settings for four months now. No problems.

Leadtek is the way to go for OC'ing 3D cards - they rate their components way above spec.

I have seen a mx440 get about 10,000 on 3dmark2001, it was at something like 420/620 with water cooling.
    I have a leadtek mx440 and it gets 7000 at 340/510 up from 270/405.
I noticed a huge increase in performace putting the card in a barton 2500+ instead of a palomino 1600+.
    the 1600+ only got 5800 at 350/515.

Core Clock Frequency is running at 600 mhz
Memory Clock Frequency is running at 800mhz
which means its running almost as fast as a geforce 5900 which runs at 750mhz core /900mhz memory
and yes that is a geforce 4 mx440 all i have is one small fan blowing cool air on the gpu which is attached to the heatsink
and i get scores of 13600 on 3DMark2001 SE and 7653 on 3DMark03
So dont come with this crap that it has no directx 9 support or pixel and vertex shading ect because it has if it has the latest drivers it has the support for it

Re: Overclocking Nvidia Geforce 4mx 440 Video Card

The main difference between GeForce4 MX 440 and GeForce4 MX 460 is the clock. It's quite clear that with proper cooling a 440 GPU can reach the 460 operating frequency, but the memory's job is more difficult. I tried to prove my thoughts with NVMax, an interesting tweaking program I started to use several weeks ago. First I tried to overclock the Abit card because I expected more from this one due to its superior GPU cooling and better memory. Indeed Siluro didn't disappoint me: the GPU was easily able to go above 300Mhz, more precisely the card was stable up to 310Mhz (10Mhz better than MX 460) and the memory easily reached 510Mhz. From the memory point of view Siluro MX440 clock is 30Mhz far under MX 460 memory frequency. Overall I can describe the Siluro overclocking level as good.

MSI G4MX440 seemed to be targeted to another market segment so I didn't expect much from it. The GPU was able to reach 295Mhz, although the cooling system is not designed for outrageous overclocking. The 5ns memory modules weren't able to do better than 435Mhz, which was anyway out of their specifications.
