8800GT overclock worse and worse; now dead

Someone else been through this? Began asking when I read rumors that the G92 and G94 would be affected by quality problems. My 8800GT has just overclocked worse and worse, now I get lockups / texturefail / artifacts in the standard speeds. Has been a Accelero S1 with 120mm fan then again, as temperatures have never been any problems.

I have had the same problem with a x800pro. It performed great first but after a few months, it became worse and worse. It never stopped functioning completely, however. Believe it can hurt gpu a bit if you over-excessive.

How high it's been overclocked? Have you had any cooling in VRM's?

Not very high, 750/1800, memories, not at all. Fins on the memories and VRM's yes, plus 120mm blowing over.
