What a difference! From 97 degrees load to 49

Have a BFG 8800GT overclocked, which became very hot when I played COD4. Became sick while on the noisy original cooler and ordered a ARCTIC COOLING ACCELERO S1 REV2 and mounted it on the graphics card. In the cooler was a 120mm Antec Tricool fan (one from a P182 chassis).

Chassis that I use is a ANTEC SONATA III with 2x 120mm fans.

    With original cooler:
50% (fan speed), idle 66 ºC
100% (fan speed), idle 60 ºC
100% (fan speed), load ca 97 ºC

    With the Accelero S1 REV2:
100% (fan speed), idle 39 ºC
100% (fan speed), load 49 ºC

    Well worth the money!

Nice temp cut! Is almost like my firm Ahr 2x80mm instead of many more cable ties

ARCTIC COOLING ACCELERO S1 REV2 is probably the most affordable cooler that has been produced. Financial results there.

Hmm ... Perhaps that is something for my graphic card. Recently applied Cooling Paste the lowered the temperature by 14 degrees. Although it looks like that there is a lot to absorb.

Quite well, yes, running a REV2 me with my 8800gt. Lowered the temperature "of the memories 20c too, damn happy!

Is this reasonable figures? I think it sounds very much, it may not have been so original cooler been bad? Assuming a room temp of 20 degrees, it differs very much from 29 degrees to 77 degrees. At the test of CPU coolers you never see such big differences even if it is low cost air-> immersion. Then it atmosphere vs temperature is hardly linear, but decreases at higher temperatures do well to achieve similar results.

This are just my thoughts and am not saying you are wrong, but just wonder if you checked the "mistakes".
