Best processor for overclock

I want to do overclocking and I want to know whether it was necessary to buy another processor or continue with mine, I have a E2160 want to know if I should change by some Core 2 Duo? which is the best choise, core 2 duo grid for overclocking?

That processor you have, first to prove that you have to climb with the fan at home, could reach the 2.8 seamlessly would say.

Yes it serves. You have to enter the bios. Read any guide, its better to go through that specific motherboard guide. The overclocking limits are given most often. And if we have problems let us know.

According to the website of Gigabyte natively supports 1066mhz FSB and 1333 with overclock, so you should be able to overclock. Get into the bios and get the fsb to 266 to start.

The Core 2 Duo / Quad like the Athlon 64 have unlocked the multiplier down to reduce power consumption (and MHz) processor using technologies such as:

Cool & Quiet on the Athlon 64.
Enhanced Halt State (C1E) and SpeedStep (EIST) in Core 2 Duo / Quad.

So if you get the FSB processor without setting the same multiplier could have problems of stability or boot as the E2160 running at 1800 MHz with a FSB800 (200 x4) with a multiplier 9x (1800 MNhz / 200 FSB multiplier = 9 ). So the only option is to upload the FBS, it is decided whether the FSB for example get to 1066 (266 x4) as have commented, processor approximately 2.4 Ghz offer (266FSB Multiplier x 9 = 2394 Mhz> 2 4 Ghz), which could be an operating speed slightly above normal for this processor, although everything is a matter of taste.

dear matsheet as far as i know u have the best budget cpu for overclocking
E2140,2160 and 2180 are known for best overclocking capability by enthusiasists, it could reach to 3.2-3.4Ghz with proper cooling thats 100% overclocking :-O

For QuadCores, I would probably say the Q9450s or Q9550. For Dual Cores I would say the e8600. But Q9300 and Q6600 are certainly great performers, also the e8400, e3110 are great performers. For low price the T7200 does really well.

In my experience the Q6600 from Intel Overclocks very well. I have the Asus Maximus II mobo and the Q6600 and it is overclocked from 2.4 to 3.38Ghz. This is also with the Zalman 9700 heatsink and fan cooling my processor.

i got stable quadcore 6600 to 3.2ghz over intel fan using Gigabyte Ga-Ds3l with OCZ platinum 800mhz ram on cpu

ram frequence of 1:1 ratio

if ur using Asus Maximus mobo and Zalman 9700 u could get around 3.8ghz , but u should have good 800mhz CL4 rams
