I am having a 300watt psu. I have overclocked my system a little bit. Does that affects my system performance or not? I am using Nvidia GeForce 8800GS video card on Windows XP Pro computer with 1GB RAM and 40GB Hard Drive. Comment on my build.

It might work but I think you should check the temperature because it may be overheating a lot. Also you should get a new PSU (about 600 watt or more) because 300 Watt may not be enough for your rig.
I think you will sooner be facing a serious problem such as a hardware crash or a complete burn of your hardware device because you are running a system on just 300watt power supply for a whole system is not at all sufficient. You have to buy a new power supply unit of some greater value.
I would like to add to this conversation. As you asked overclocking always affects the performance of the system either in the correct way or else in the wrong direction. This totally depends on the way you have overclocked and the level you have done it.
