Seek Advice on USB 2 PCI adaptor 4 Dual CPU PC

I am searching for a USB 2.0 PCI Adapter that will work on my unusual PC.

I already bought and tried USB 2 PCI Adapters from Adaptec and Via. The Adaptec will not work on PCs with dual CPUs--it is a driver issue. The Via does not work with Canon printers and scanners, which I have.

Can anyone suggest a USB 2 adapter that may work on my hardware config described below. I really would appreciate this info...because aside from the USB 2 issue, mine is a great ol' beast.

I created a home workstation from a vintage 2003 server with dual Xeons 2.4 ghz with hyperthreading, SuperMicro MoBo with Intel Chipset 860, SuperMicro chasis, and Rambus RDAM P800. Win XP Pro SP3. This PC is pre-PCIe and USB 2.
