Do I require a stability testing software

I have using Gigabyte 8I915PL-G Socket 775 motherboard and Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 Processor.

Recently, I overclocked my processor to 3 Ghz at 1.275 volt vcore. System booted as normal but after few moments got restarted. I lowered the FSB from 345 to 340 but still no gain. Increased the voltage to 1.3 volt. I don't have anything to test the stability of my system so just checked the workload level and that was 80%. I tested the temperature and it was 50C.

So my question is do I require a stability testing software?

Systems boot doesn't signifies system stability. The system need to be stressed to see how the overclocked components respond and what are there temperatures when stressed under full load. You can run Prime95 (Blend) to test stability.

I would recommend 3dmark for system stability test and super pi for processor test.

I would prefer Orthos over super pi for processor testing because superpi tests more ram stabilty than cpu.
