vista, 98 and lexmark

I have a problem,
I have bought a laptop with Vista Home Premium on it and connected it to my desktop(with Windows 98 on it).
I have a Lexmark e232 printer installed on the 98 machine.
I've connected the to PC with a crossover cable and joined them to a work group.
I want my laptop to print to this Printer but can't connect to the printer, even though I have installed the driver for it on the laptop.
It gives me and error - 0x00000866.
What can I do?
