Exclamation Is it possible to disable MTP mode in Win XP?

Hi all

I was wondering if there's anyway to plug in my mp3 player (Toshiba Gigabeat S30) and have Windows recognize it as a normal external hard drive instead of as an MTP device? I was using it to backup photos from my digital camera while I was out of the country and when I got back home I tried transferring the photos to my PC, but I made a big pile of doo doo. After I plugged in the player, I accidentally pulled out the usb cable and the player gave me an error on the screen and then proceeded to format itself. Since MTP severely limits my options when I try to view Properties, I can't run data recovery software on it. What I'm trying to do is temporarily disable Windows recognizing my player as an MTP device and mount it as a normal usb drive, which will assign the player a drive letter so that I can try using data recovery software to get my pictures back.

I'm running XP Pro with SP2 and all updates installed. I'm also using WMP 11

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi

Just do the following Steps

Go to Control Panel / System. Bring in the Hardware tab and enter the Device Manager. Connect the player to the USB port Then Right-click the device and choose Uninstall, for Uninstall device for uninstall
