What operating system for intel core i3

i have the laptop.
configuration:2GB Ram,500GB Hard Disk.

which OS is best in my laptop configuration?

What is the processor in your laptop. If it is Dual Core or Core 2 Duo or higher then go for Windows 7. It will work fine. You can install Microsoft Office and other required operating system for daily use. For antivirus stick with MSE. It is free and light also. Or if you need more better security then try free edition of AVG. For OS I do not think there is anything better than Windows 7. Ubuntu is more light but it is different and need time to understand it properly.
