Is it possible to install Windows XP on the new iMac

The new iMac looks amazing and has great features. I just want to know that is it possible to install Windows XP on the same. I need some advice on it. If dual boot is also possible then it is fair enough. I am willing to buy new iMac, but there some old apps which will not work on it. My work is associated with accounting. So that app is not going to work on the iMac. So adding Windows XP on that will be really helpful.

Installing Windows is possible, but you have to overwrite firmware. I had seen some hacks on the web through which you can also install Windows 7 on them. You can dual boot your pc and add XP at one side. But there is no guarantee that it will be stable.

You have to use Bootcamp for the same. To add you have to first update the latest version of Bootcamp and then you can go ahead with Windows xp setup on iMac. You can dual boot and enjoy both the os features on the same system. There are some amazing guide available on the web which tells you the complete process. The process is bit complicated but it works. It is essential that you must backup your data before doing the same. You have to run Boot Camp assistant from the utilizes folder. Run the tool and it will give you a onscreen instructions for installing other OS.It has a Windows selection in the same. You have to choose it and assign other details. If this fails or give you any error then leave it. You can skip the steps and it is not going to work. There are some other ways but that can cause serious OS issue.

There are other methods also. Like you can go ahead with Parallel. You can install XP on that and use it. But it affect the system performance. iMac has a different hardware architecture due to which it is sometime impossible to run other OS.

It can be done through virtualization. iMac is a good system which comes with high end hardware configuration. That means you can simply run any OS through Parallel or Fuzion. There are many other virtualization software available through which you can install Windows on it and test it. This will not affect any other component of the OS. If you go ahead with dual boot then there are chances that your system will not work properly. It can cause problem with the internal system file, it can get damage. To instlal Windows with different boot-loader you have to overwrite the EFI. This is a kind of complex procedure and not applicable for all to test. So go ahead with virtualization. Download a good virtualization software. In that you just have to click on add and choose the windows disc that you want to install. You can install your software in the virtual environment. Once it is done and you don't require it you can remove the virtual tool. This will wipe out the windows setup. While if you go ahead with dual boot it is not easy to remove Windows.
