Windows 8 error code 0x80042316 I have installed Windows 8 in my computer and I started using it. I was playing around with the tiles in it and I created a good pattern out of it. I wanted to share it along with my friends and for that I needed to take a screenshot of it. I clicked on the print screen button and I get an error code 0x80042316. It happens every time I want to take a screen shot of the screen. Can someone tell me why it is happening so? |

Re: Windows 8 error code 0x80042316 In Windows 8, when you try to take a screenshot, Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) starts which saves the virtual image of the screenshot. The problem with this Volume Shadow Copy Service is that you cannot run it more than once at a same time. Maybe when you were trying to take the screenshot of the Windows 8, Volume Shadow Copy Service was already running due to which the screen shot failed to happen. If you are running any program that is synchronizing your local drives with some other drives, then you should stop this process. This is the part where the VSS is used the most. |

Re: Windows 8 error code 0x80042316 The problem with VSS also occurs in Windows 8 when you have any software running backup process in your computer. When software is making some backup of data it first saves the temporary data VSS. This is why the VSS must be busy and not giving you chance to save the screen shot. Not just backup activity of the software must be hampering the activity of taking screenshot in your Windows 8, but also if you have scheduled any job from any software, then it will take VSS. You will need to disable these activities to get the screen shot in your Windows 8 working properly. |

Re: Windows 8 error code 0x80042316 You can just stop the current activity that has occupied Volume Shadow Copy service from Control Panel. You will find it in Administrative Services in Control Panel and under it; you need to go in the Services. Once you find ?Volume Shadow Copy service?, right click on it and just restart it. This will terminate the processes that are using the same service and free it up for taking screen shots. But see to it that some important process is not using this service; else you?ll screw up the working of your own system. |

Re: Windows 8 error code 0x80042316 Another method of keeping the Volume Shadow Copy service free is by adding some files to the windows/system32 folder in Windows 8. Use command prompt to get to this folder add then add the following commands that I have listed below,
