PhysX Driver Fatal Error while installation on GeForce 8800 Ultra Video Card

Hello everyone. I recently downloaded the latest drivers from nvidia directly for my GPU. The driver version is 296.10 which is the latest WHQL driver there is. The problem that I am having is in the installation part. When I try to install it gives me an error saying ‘physx driver fatal error’ and I cannot continue with the installation. At first I thought the downloaded file was corrupt so I downloaded a fresh copy of the drivers, and it still reoccurs. If anybody can help me out , I’d highly appreciate it. Thank you.

It looks like this might have happened due to corrupt entries in registry. I would recommend you get a good registry cleaner and scan your registry for problems. Once the registry has been cleaned ,you’ll be able to install the drivers again. One of the best registry cleaner is CCleaner and the best part is its free.

Yes. It’s most probably an old-new driver conflict. I once had a driver problem and it was so messed up I had to format the whole system. Good luck with the drivers and do let us know as it turns out. Try removing the previous version of the drivers and then installing the new one.
