Is installation of Windows 7 in Sony Vaio FW160FE possible?

I saw and used Windows 7 in one of my friend’s PC and I loved the experience. I desperately want to install windows 7 in my PC and I’m aware how to do that (thanks to some threads on your forums). But when I contacted Sony for some assistance, they said that my PC is not compatible to Windows 7 and there’s no driver support. On asking for solution they said all I can do is to buy a new PC. I was disheartened obviously! But I thought of not giving up and taking some expert advice from your forum. I don’t think I need to frame a question now. But if I have to, my question is: ‘Can I install Windows 7 on my Sony Vaio FW160F3?’ if yes, how?

That is not at all true. I’ll definitely help you but firstly I would like to know the specification details of your system.

Go ahead with the installation process. Won’t explain how since you already said you are aware of it. OK! Use the VGN-FW590 Windows 7 Home Premium x64 drivers since it uses the same chipset (PM45).
Another thing you need to keep in mind is the order by which you should go ahead. Follow the following order and you won’t have an issue I feel.

Firstly you need to download the latest Windows updates and install Sony Shared Libray, SUS Setting Utilty,VCC Vaio Control Center and if required BC Battery Care. After this, carry on with the installation of chipset intel driver and perform hard disk update. You can then go ahead with Video and audio drivers namely: Video ATI Driver, Realtek Audi HD, Realtek Audio HDMI. You can then proceed with installation of LAN drivers, modem drivers and Bluetooth drivers followed by the touchpad synaptic driver, the memory stick driver and memory SD host driver. After which you need to install VES2, Sony firmware extension, VPM and SmartWi.
And there you have your desire fulfilled!

    Thanks a Lot!
Everything is fine, but it seem I have tx5mn/w and it’s not possible for VPM work with it and the function and the eject button.
    Thanx in advance.

Tx is a bit tricky I must say, however we can get Fn and eject keys work for you.
    Try this:
    • Install Sony Shared Library for XP
    • There are XP notebook utilities available for Vaio, install them
    • After that install notebook utilities for Vista
    It’ll work!
    Hope I was helpful enough!
