Why NX service unavailable or access is disabled on ubuntu?

I have installed SSH on my system and it is working great. I am able to connect with server by using any machine and it can be control. However I am not able to get connected with the server by using NX Client. I am having nxserver on server machine but it cannot start remote desktop session by using NX Client. the error message can be stated as follow.

The NX service is not available or the NX access was disabled on host <server ip>.

Well I am suspecting that the issue is associated with public/private key authentication and it can be displayed as follow.

NX> 203 NXSSH running with pid: 4564
NX> 285 Enabling check on switch command
NX> 285 Enabling skip of SSH config files
NX> 285 Setting the preferred NX options
NX> 200 Connected to address: 192.168.1.15 on port: 22
NX> 202 Authenticating user: nx
NX> 208 Using auth method: publickey
NX> 204 Authentication failed.

Any suggestion to help me out will be greatly appreciated.

You should give a try to below mentioned steps and let me know about your experience.

• First of all uninstall NX and all the files which are associated with NX especially /usr/NX/*.
• Make .nx directory at my home directory.
• Now reinstall NX.
• Finally check log files located at /usr/NX/var/log for any errors and see whether you are getting any error message.
• Repeat the process again if you get any issue.

I got the same issue in centos that is NX was nit making use of client dsa key at /etc/nxserver.

I ran cat /etc/passwd | grep ^nx and got below mentioned output.

nx: x :102:103::/var/lib/nxserver/home:/usr/bin/nxserver

now you have to use below mentioned key in nx client

cat /var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh/client.id_dsa.key

I think you have done something wrong with the SSH server config only. Make sure that you have added AllowUsers option. If you don’t do that then you might face above mentioned error message. Also see that you have added NX users as well.

In this particular situation I am using couple DSA keys which are from /etc/nxserver and /var/lib/nxserver/home/.ssh but none of them worked for me at all. now I am using default key and when you are supposed to any changes to DSA key then you will have a button which has been said as Default. I clicked on the same it simply changed the DSA key field after doing I did not get any issue.
