"Windows 8 Consumer Preview Setup Has Stopped Working" error when checking compatability

Yesterday I was checking the compatibility in Windows 8 Consumer Preview and suddenly an error message saying "Windows 8 Consumer Preview Setup Has Stopped Working". Something has caused the problem which makes the program to stop working correctly. It then showed me that Windows will close the program. Does anyone else got this error message? Is there any work around for this?

Windows 8 will run on any PC which is running Windows 7 . And a lot of PCs that run Windows Vista and now Windows XP will be suitable for Windows 8, Microsoft explained. But many users find it difficult upgrade an operating system and therefore they prefer to use the switch. That will change with Windows 8 and Microsoft promises a much simplified installation or upgrade process.

What kind of installation did you choose during the installation? As far as I know that Microsoft offers to Windows 8, two installation options for two very different user groups: a "Streamlined setup" for users who are moving with as little effort on Windows 8 will, and the "Advanced Setup" for users who set up a new system and want to have much control. The Streamlined setup as an executable file (. Exe) launched directly from within Windows, the Advanced setup is used, however, if the installation is booted from a DVD or a USB stick.

UBUNTU / Linux use a different file system, and is not compatible with the Windows file system. NTFS is the file system of Windows Vista / 7/8

Did you try with the Windows 8 install on new format partition created or recreate it to NTFS?

Interestingly, a Windows installation is not possible when a dedicated graphics card is installed because I already after loading the Windows 8 DVD get a black screen. Installing over the onboard graphics (if the BIOS is set to "only iGPU" changed) I can still install Windows, but get after the installation and restarting only colored vertical stripes seen.

The installation program has changed little over Windows 7 and is almost self-explanatory. It is recommended that for a native installation to use a boot disk. Starting the installation from within Windows is fraught with problems. During installation, Windows would ask 8, if you upgrade or perform a custom installation. Here you will always choose the "Custom" option. "Upgrade" means that the old Windows installation will be deleted. Then the program lists all available disks and partitions. It is recommended that an empty partition, or a designated use "Free Space" at least 50 GB to suffer any data loss.

I think that you are getting problem at the end of installation. Here the installation will ask for the Windows Live ID and it is really necessary for the compatibility check on Windows compatibility center.

A Windows Live ID is an account that is authenticated against the online services from Microsoft. One can simply skip this step. However, Windows 8 interacts more strongly with Windows Live than previous Windows versions. If you sign up, for example, all the Internet Explorer browser bookmarks synchronized between different computers. It is definitely worthwhile to sign in to Windows Live when you have an account yet.

Always install Windows 8 Consumer preview in Virtual machine. Do not dual boot or clean install because it is not a complete version. it is test version or Beta version which obviously include lots of bugs and may not be compatible with most of system specs.
