How to capture screenshot of desktop, apps, Metro UI in Windows 8 Consumer Preview

The new Windows 8 Consumer preview is out of to download for free. It is launched after the Windows 8 Developer Preview. I hope that several people already found most out of it. I would like to know how to take screenshot of desktop, apps, Metro UI in Windows 8 Consumer Preview. Is it same as we were doing in Windows 7?

In order to take Metro and Desktop screenshots, simply push the Print Screen key. After that open photo editor or paint program if available and paste the screenshot using paste option or keyboard shortcut. In my option, paint is the better option. If you want to take the desktop screenshot:
  • Go to Metro type: Snipping Tool
  • Launch the Snipping Tool
  • Choose area of the desktop which you want to take a screenshot of and save it

I think that there is an easy way. You can simply press Windows key + Print Screen. Now the screenshot will automatically going to save it in Pictures Library. After that you can edit those photos using any Photo Editor.

It is really possible to capture screenshots in Windows 8 in a simple, fast and automatic, without resorting to third-party software. Although previous versions of Windows, in fact, allow you to take screenshots, but the procedure was slightly more complicated because the images were not saved automatically by the system, but must then be pasted into Paint or other software to be used. With Windows 8, however, Microsoft has introduced the ability to take screenshots with a keystroke. The captured images are then automatically saved in the system library.

Now there is a tool called Windows 8 Log in Screen Capture which allows you to create screenshots of the Windows 8 log-on screen. With Windows 8 Log in Screen Capture, you can click on the Ease of Access button to Win 8 login screen photography. This tool sets during the installation of a backup file "Utilman.exe" and replaces the Windows 8 Ease of Access button. For safety, you should back up before installing the original version of the file "Utilman.exe" and manually create a restore point.
