Thumbnail preview not working in Windows 7

Hello everyone, I am using Windows 7 operating system with 1 GB RAM, Core2Duo processor and Mozilla Firefox as my browser. I suppose that the thumbnail preview is not working in Windows 7 because I cannot see the thumbnail previews of my video files. Sometimes the image files are also not showing the thumbnail preview. As I have recently installed Windows 7, I do not have much knowledge about its working and all. Please tell me how to have a thumbnail view of these video and image files?

You must have noted that Windows 7 has different themes. Only the AeroGlass themes enable the Thumblnail preview in the taskbar. Maybe you must have switched to a graphical theme from the Aero theme. So, you cannot view it. That is why it seems that thumbnail preview is not working in Windows 7. I suppose your problem will be solved after switching to the aero theme, setting thumbnail views for all the files you need to do it to and then, switching back to the graphical theme.

Your problem thumbnail preview not working in Windows 7 is quite simple and you need not worry about that. Many of the people are extremely worried and still not familiar with the working of Windows 7. If you cannot see the Thumbnail icon on the taskbar, then right-click anywhere in the windows where the specific files are located of which you need a thumbnail view. There, you will get an option "View". You can select different types of sizes that are available for the thumbnail views from there.

In order to get a thumbnail preview for the files in Windows 7, follow the following steps:
    1. At the top, you can see FILE, EDIT, VIEW, TOOLS, HELP. Here click on VIEW.
    2. Here you can see a list of views that you can set for the files:

    • EXTRA LARGE ICONS
    • LARGE ICONS
    • SMALL ICONS
    • TILES
    • DETAILS

    and so on.
You have to select any of the 1st 3 options.

You must have disabled the thumbnails view for the files and folders. To enable it back, do as following:
    1. Go to START, next ALL PROGRAMS, then ACCESSORIES.
    2. Now WINDOWS EXPLORER has to be run.
    3. There, select the ORGANIZE button which is located on the menu/shortcut bar.
    4. In the DROP-DOWN menu, select the FOLDER AND SEARCH OPTIONS.
    5. Now, in the FOLDER OPTIONS dialog, click on the VIEW tab.
    6. Here, the checkbox needs to be checked in ALWAYS SHOW ICONS, NEVER THUMBNAILS OPTION.
    7. Finally click on the OK button.

sad Re: Thumbnail preview not working in Windows 7

I am having the same issue except this fix doesn't work.

Its strange, when I have the option mentioned above unticked, when i scroll through my photos is shows the thumbnail for a slip second then reverts back to the stock standard icon. so its like the settings are correct just something is going on in the background that isn't supposed to.

i've check the settings, i've changed the view between large, medium etc size and still doesn't work.
