how to install windows 7 64 bit in Legacy mode

Hello friends, need your help. Can anyone tell me how can I install windows 7 64 bit OS on to a new hard drive. Once I tried the installation by myself but it gave me some unusual problem but then later on I decided to install it in legacy mode. Waiting for a suitable and appropriate reply and solution.

I own a Lenovo s205 from past 2 years and recently my hard drive crashed due to which I bought a new one. Now the reason I am telling this is because even I have failed to install the same windows 7 OS on to this new HDD.

Initially during the installation it automatically created two partitions, which was very much strange for me. This was the first time I saw something like that but then later on I came to know that it happened because of UEFI. But then everything installed correctly till I access the system. Later on I saw that none of my net card was working properly. I guess the issue is due to the UEFI and I am sure re installing the OS in legacy mode would definitely make things work like before.

Are you sure that you installed the drivers without any issue; I mean the power management and activate the wireless. Also check the BIOS whether there is any option to activate wireless, and when you install wireless adapter drivers do you get any error messages.

Also let me know the brand name of the wireless adapter which you have.

Answer your question let me tell you that I have almost tried installing the drivers. I installed everything but actually the wired LAN gives me an error in the device manager. And when I push the buttons Fn+F5 I can only have Bluetooth available. Also in device manager I can see that the wireless LAN installed perfectly. So right now I can say that I do not see any internet access on S205.

Also check the BIOS whether there is any option to activate wireless, and when you install wireless adapter drivers do you get any error messages.
And about the bios option I would like to say that there is a BIOS option which can possibly enable and disable the wireless, but normally it enables every time. My wifi adapter is Ralink RT3090 802.11n.

Let me tell you that whenever you run the setup file for the drivers it use to usually extracts the file to volume C without installing it. For now even you need to run that setup file. Just make sure that even you can run that setup file.

If you tried out the UEFI then you must start the installation all over again with legacy. For your kind information let me tell you that in UEFI there are certain things that do not work and one of them is the WLAN.

There is no issue in installing windows 7 64bit in legacy mode. You just have to wait for a while after you insert the windows DVD until you get the message “Please press a key to install from CD/DVD” which is actually shown up in the old DOS 80 lines display mode. Now remember you have to do this before you see the same message but this time in graphic mode which will say that the UEFI is still alive.

Yes I have installed it as I already said that in the device manager it is already installed that too without any error, but only the windows is unable to see it. Maybe its off on the button but I would really say that its is for sure on.

And when I push the buttons Fn+F5, the strange thing happens is that it do not use to appear even after that. Anyways I will again try to install windows again using the above trick.

Yeah exactly this could be the one which could possibly work; in fact it’s the only way that works. I have already installed the OS in my system before using this trick and it works fine.

Initially I use always push the key as soon as I see the first message without waiting for a while as I never knew that I am suppose to wait for a little while. It always installed in UEFI as it use to always create 2 extra partitions.
