Hi everyone,
I recently get an hard drive failure with my Dell laptop, NTFS drive and Windows seven. Windows does not want to load. I think that I can fix that by running a chkdsk.
I have tried to create a bootable usb drive to run this command on my ntfs drive but it did not work. I have used HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool V2.0.6 for this purpose.
I was able to create a bootable usb drive that contains the chkdsk.exe file but I get an error when I ran it "cannot run in dos mode". Also I was not able to see my hard drive.
How can I create a bootable usb drive that will let me run the chkdsk command on my hard drive?
Many thanks for your help
FYI: I have tried to run the windows repair mode, recovery console but it does not work.
I have also used the NTFS4dos tool but it does not work (windows boot on the flash drive but the screen is frozen)
I do not have a windows CD and I do not have a box to plug the hard drive to another computer.
