CD-ROM missing in Dell Dimension 4500 with Windows XP

This is kind of odd and I really know what the problem but apparently my CD-ROM missing for everywhere like its never existed on my pc like its gone for ever . ist is not showing on the BIOS nor in device manager and the it is showing in msonfo shows cdrom.sys to be stopped I am assuming this is because of the virus but not sure I have even scanned with the antivirus . I have driver CD but how can I use it if don’t find CD ROM i am using Dell Dimension 4500 with Windows XP please guy I need help on this I would be glad this is really frustrating need help

Even I even have similar drawback i used to be recently warned by my AVG virus scan that there was a hider Trojan in my cdrom.sys files. AVG white flagged it as a result of it could not take away the file. after I ran Malwarebytes it deletes the Trojan, AND it's am passionate about it took the cdron.sys with it. currently my cd rom isn't detected in software. Device manager says that the driving force is all up thus far though there are yellow question marks next to it. Any ideas???? am i able to copy the cdrom.sys files from another machine and replace them?

Have you tried the "show hidden devices" possibility within the read menu within the device manager?

nLite is notorious for screwing things up - i would not be shocked if that is the reason behind your drawback

Hey guys i want assist here i used to be having identical drawback I deleted the registry keys by deleting the "upper filters" within the registry currently i am unable to boot up into XP in the slightest degree It gets as so much because the traditional blue screen Windows XP loading screen and hangs therefore am I totally buggered currently then ??

Any more thoughts please, as I even have no XP currently please help

Registry Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class
Key Name: {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Value Data: [Delete All Value Data from UpperFilters and LowerFilters]

In it delete the Key or the Multi-String Values
Delete only the data values.
Exit Registry and Reboot
