How to Uninstall Grub 2 and keep Windows Xp in System?

In my zeal to attempt distinctive Linux distros, I installed OpenSuse in a dual boot with XP. I need to erase OpenSuse and leave XP in place on this machine. It's a house computer and run fine else wise. I've booted the machine in recovery mode and ran the FIXMBR order from the DOS prompt. I give a post that the MBR is composed to partition 0 of hard drive 0. When I reboot the Grub menu is still there. I have not yet erased or repartitioned the OpenSuse part of the drive. I need to guarantee the MBR is restored before doing that. Any recommendations? I am able to reinstall XP but lean toward not to.

I could rather he didn't. Lilo is a complicated bootloader. By reason at present Windows XP, might as well just utilize EasyBCD, its much more effortless! Linux is about making things more straightforward, not harder! Don't scorn Windows! I adore Linux, and I like Windows as well! Only being as how people "love" Linux doesn't mean you need to go around and recommend everything Linux-based or open-cause. As an amateur, I could surmise that most people could rather incline toward an attractive GUI program than utilizing the terminal.

When you need dual booting Linux with Windows you might as well consistently install Windows first and the Linux boot loader in the root or the boot partition of your Linux fix then utilize EasyBCD to unite your late Linux fix in the Windows boot loader.

By default, the boot loaders of working system are installed in the Master Boot Record (MBR) of a hard drive. That is the best equipped area for it. Be that as it may, when endeavoring to dual-boot Windows and a Linux distribution, you have a different choice, and this might as well consider tip number four: When trying to dual-boot on a specific hard drive, it is preferred to instate the Linux boot loader on a unattached boot partition, and have the Windows boot loader be answerable for dual-booting both working system. If you prefer to accompany this tip or not depends on your tolerance for pain, on account of the elective is to accompany the default, that is, install the Linux boot loader in the MBR.

The situation with the default area is that assuming that you ever need to reinstall Windows or update it will wipe the Linux boot loader and commission its particular (boot loader). Additionally, some hostile to-virus systems have been known to install humble indexes in the MBR, with the intention that would be able to be a different root of pain, in the event that you need to install an anti -virus program on Windows.

In the event that you arrangement to install the Linux boot loader on a boot partition, be cognizant that on more extensive hard drives, there is a limit on how far the boot partition might be spotted from the begin of the plate. On a 1TB hard drive, it is an as yet undisclosed place around the 500GB check. The result in a case is to make the boot partition near Windows' System partition.

I need this specific machine XP just, no alternatives to boot into anything else. From what I've perused I its prescribed to restore MBR to do this. Attempted the systems presented on the net (DOS summon arouse fdisk /mbr or fixmbr) and those didn't work.

On the brighter side, I've chosen to totally relinquish Vista on my laptop and run strictly with Katya. So I will have a desktop machine XP for the clan, laptop Mint where I am able to attempt different distros in the event that I need.

I get your focus but incline toward to unequivocally boot into XP with no alternate alternatives

Install it quite similar to whatever possible Windows application.
