Mobile Me has been replaced by icloud.

ISync (which is only for syncing non-Apple mobile phones through a local USB or Bluetooth connection) has simply been discontinued. There has been replaced by anything.

When I look at what we know now about icloud not see a simple replacement of Mobilize. I see a fulfillment of the promise made with iSync. A simple service to consolidate the data into our (brand Apple, of course) devices. "Steve Jobs

Apple's intention was to replace what they want us all to be using Apple devices. It's not about what "made" .it about what they desire to do

I've been waiting to upgrade to the most recent version of OSX (Lion) since the announcement were made at WWDC this year. on the other hand, in the middle of lots of new-fangled functions and features ("250 +"), Lion is also leaving behind a couple of things - particularly Rosetta (PowerPC translation layer) - and iSync applications and frontrow.

The vanishing of the PowerPC emulation has been a long time coming, and it was not in fact a revelation, since it has been 6 years in view of the fact that Intel CPU became the official Apple machines. The main impact that actually seems to be for user of Quicken, you might in fact be a blessing in masquerade, bearing in mind it was actually wretched Quicken on the Mac.

Sync has been removed, presumably because it was one of the "low use" applications on the platform. ITunes is the center of most of the Mac-based sync these days, along with Mobile Me cloud side of things.

However, iSync has been a key feature of the operating system for me, since it has no IOS phone (a Nokia E71 for that matter), and be capable to sync seamlessly with my contacts and calendars with iSync phone become a key part of my workflow (even I have some Automator scripts to make this easier). ISync and has been capable to sync via Bluetooth, unlike the acquaintance linked to the computer with IOS devices so far (although OTA sync is on the road with iOS 5 afterward this fall).

Oh, OS X Lion iSync is removed from the hard drive is installed, and for a moment I thought it was the end of the line of comfort I had with the E71, and would have to return to the dark days of manual data entry for directions (manual input of calendar entries is too a great deal of a irritate on the phone, and would have to fall jointly).

Before installation of Lion, who had taken a complete disk image of my prior Snow Leopard installation with luminous Super Duper! Disk cloner. This was more of a backup and recovery standpoint, although permitted me to an unforeseen answer to the quandary iSync - on a whim, I attached disk for Mac through Snow Leopard, the Lion, and tick the iSync application.

In retrospect, this is not really surprising, since iSync has really been a customer for services underlying synchronization (which still exist in Lion), and phone management plugins specific device.

All that was needed was to reproduction a bit further back in iSync "/ Applications" folder, and copy of the phone plug-in (only in my box) to the "/ Library / PhonePlugins" folder.

Some (though a minority), get it operational once more was surprisingly easy. You'll have to see the situation the next time frontrow. It resemble a comparable recovery process exists for frontrow so.

The matter of not having the snow leopard media / backup will positively be a trouble The comment about the "marginal" of using iSync was ordained to be a little sarcastic - I'm a big user of the application - unfortunately, Apple has decided that users, like me, must be left behind.

The core synchronization services within the frameworks of OS X (and transferred to Lion) are certainly the mainstream, to support other synchronization services like iTunes synchronization IOS, and Mobile Me. I do not anticipate it going away anytime soon.

He raised the idea of collecting iSync just above my time capsule, and it worked. It's that simple! Nothing to do with libraries or whatever, my phone was on the list.
