Can I expect Openbox in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS?

I run the Ubuntu LTS releases, so I have a standard 10.04.2 on at this very moment. The machine just has built-in video, but it does have 2GB RAM and a 3GHz CPU: this is something greater than enough for what I do. I got overcome and installed Openbox WM. I would be able to prefer it as a session. I have even united pcman record supervisor and the avant task bar. At 12.04 at what time Gnome is gone, would I be able to look for Openbox and, provided that I introduce it, LXDE, to be broken?

If everything is working the method you would like it to and you utilize it for practically nothing then why update. There is no prerequisite to upgrade to the following version ever. A lot of people over there are still running 7.04 or 8.04 and so on. Since it not broke then don’t alter it, don’t get drawn into having the most recent, in particular as your requirements are restricted.

I don't require the front line engineering, but I do feel safer about at any rate getting the security and application updates (updates, bug settles, and so on.) with the LTS releases. That would be why I stay on them (2 years) vs, the 6 month releases.

The Updates DO quit being ready following 18 months (for non-LTS) and 3 years for LTS-unless I am should be absent something. Still, if Unity would be able to break it, a smaller than normal-iso install of 12.04 LTS with an able-get of LXDE would be the approach to go. I am not found of the "look" of Unity. I am NOT mentioning on its specialized perspective. I am NOT a programmer.

This is hard to response now but that might as well still work. LTS releases are more often than not absolutely stable as opposed to being forefront on account of Gnome 3 openbox could work distinctively. Gnome 3 could update this but in a year's time I look for this to be altered. At the same time you never know.
