Getting black screen while installing 10.04 Lucid using live cd

I have a Toshiba Satellite M35X-S309 laptop. Recently I was trying to install 10.04 Lucid Lynx using the Live CD. But I couldn’t successfully do that. I tried to boot from the cd, it booted and went through the startup process. It also passed the Ubuntu screen and got hanged over there. Everything stopped completely. I have tried the standard Ubuntu and also the Kubuntu discs but they both even hang over there. I had 9.10 version installed and everything was working fine but whenever I tried to update it, it showed error and didn’t install the update. I don’t know what is wrong now. Please help. I have mentioned my system specifications below.
    • Intel Pentium M
    • 1gb RAM
    • 60GB HD, DVD/CD-RW,
    • Intel 1394abg wireless
    • Intel 855GME video

I think there is some graphic issue. I would suggest you to boot with video=vesa on the boot line. I hope this will work. If it doesn’t then kindly let me know so that I can give you some other effective solution which you can try and get the issue resolved.

I have faced the same problem. I would suggest you to try to install again. Try to boot the liveCD then, select your language and highlight but make sure that you don’t hit enter the "Try Ubuntu without Installing" option. Then, hit escape button. There you will see that the line ends with “ro quiet splash” this code. Just try to change the code to “ro i915.modeset=0” now I think it will work

I think the cd that you are using is corrupted one. I think you should check the cd once and follow ahead. Try to boot in some other pc using this cd. If it boots then definitely there is something wrong with the pc or else it is the cd. Let me know so that I can assist you in future.
