    Cannot Clean install Win7 stop : 0x0000007E

    Hello,

As the title says i am trying to do a clean install of Windows 7(or any version for that matter) onto a friends oldish computer.
I am at a loss lol. The short and sweet of it is this error code presented on a BSOD after 10-20% of Expanding windows during installation.

    stop : 0x0000007E (0xC000001D, 0x8BAB9273, 0x87f47A40, 0x87F47620)

I am fairly proficient with computers. So i have spent some time on this issue trying different advice i found online, but so far nothing. I do not know what to do to pinpoint the problem.

I have ran Windows memory diagnostic extensively(like 7hrs), and that turned up nothing. It is a brand new HDD i have tried 3 so far. Like i said above it is a clean install so nothing in the drive could be doing this. I have tried removing the USB stick for which the systems wireless mouse and keyboard use to comunicate with them computer and switched to a PS2 keyoard. Same error.

This is a HP Pavilion m7480n

As far as i know it can handle 7, or am i wrong? I "had" XP on it a while back when i got it but my friend had brought it to me complaining of BSOD's to the point where it couldn't be used they were so frequent. I figured corrupt hdd and opted for a new hdd and a clean install.. now im stuck lol So if anyone can offer assistance i will be most grateful as this has become quite the headache.

I cannot think anything except for the disc, which might be corrupted? Can you try to install Windows with the same disc on other computers? Try swapping the ram or removing each ram and then test the installation procedure. Have you done proper partition on the hard drive for the proper installation size required by the Windows.
