How to connect wicd d-bus interface in backtrack 5?

I upgraded to the Backtrack 5, enjoying the new features and design. I was running a live CD and then installed on the HD. The first time you ran from the CD was exploring all the new operating system and addressed to the administrator of the network and connected to my router. I had full Internet access and started messing around. After a while I tried to connect to my router and I was getting the following errors in the launch of the network administrator."Could not connect with wicd D-Bus interface. Check the wicd record for error mail ?Then tick on my network to go into the WPA passphrase and attempt to connect. Then I get the error Incorrect Password.

Anyone knows how to fix this? I looked at the logs and see no errors. A minute's Internet is working fine the next minute I cannot connect and my password is wrong. I have a little paranoid I checked my password on my other computers and could connect without any problem; I'm in the similar laptop now - on the XP partition - and can connect fine. I try to restart and start the network physically still no joy.

That error is supposed to not pressure your connectivity; however this is the repair to it:
Code:
root@evilbox:~# dpkg-reconfigure wicd
root@evilbox:~# update-rc.d wicd defaults
Adding system startup for /etc/init.d/wicd...
   /etc/rc0.d/K20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc1.d/K20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc6.d/K20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc2.d/S20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc3.d/S20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc4.d/S20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc5.d/S20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
root@evilbox:~#

Re: How to connect wicd d-bus interface in backtrack 5?

I tried this code last night and it worked for me.
Code:
root@bt:~# dpkg-reconfigure wicd
root@bt:~# update-rc.d wicd defaults
 Adding system startup for /etc/init.d/wicd ...
   /etc/rc0.d/K20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc1.d/K20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc6.d/K20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc2.d/S20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc3.d/S20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc4.d/S20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
   /etc/rc5.d/S20wicd -> ../init.d/wicd
root@evilbox:~#
when I rebooted my pc and this happened to me.
Code:
root@bt:~# dpkg-reconfigure wicd
root@bt:~# update-rc.d wicd defaults
system start/stop links for /etc/init.d/wicd already exits

Re: How to connect wicd d-bus interface in backtrack 5?

I have been facing exactly similar problem. Exactly the same on command. Using a aspire one with a wifi card d255e AR5B95 Atheros. The weird thing is that I know the card works perfectly. I can use aircrack-ng suite with full support of packet injection, you may use Wicd. I have a headache trying to take murderer is back in operation. Hope it works this time and if anyone here know how to fix this thing than reply here.

Re: How to connect wicd d-bus interface in backtrack 5?

I think I figured out the answer, at least I got mine working. Edit your /etc/network/interfaces so that it only contains the following:

Code:
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
Something about the D-bus manager is not initialized. Now I cannot say it will work for wicd, but it did work on the network-manager-gnome which is infinitely more aesthetically appealing anyway. If you cannot solve the problem, try:

Code:
apt-get install synaptec
apt-get install network-manager-gnome
This will surely rectify your problems.
