    SBS 2008 VPN Connection Issue

    Hi all,

My first time here, I hope somebody can help.

I have a Small Business Server 2008 and I am trying to configure some clients (XP and Windows 7) to access the network remotely via VPN.

The issue is this, I can connect via the VPN fine, when I look at my IPCONFIG/ALL I am receiving a correct IP address from the DHCP server on the LAN, however, I am unable to ping any other devices on the local network via IP address or DNS name.

Anybody else come across this and (more importantly!) resolve it?

    Thanks

    Rob

First of all make sure that your router updated with firmware and then I would like to suggest you the following steps:
    • First open the Windows SBS Console.
    • Now on the Windows SBS Console go to the network tab and under that select the connectivity tab.
    • Now on the connectivity tab go to the right hand pane and under that select the Configure a Virtual Private Network on the task pane.
    • Now this will start the Setup Virtual Private Networking wizard and under that choose the Allow users to connect to the server by using a VPN and after that hit the next. Now you need to go through the all steps under that and after that once you finsih this and after that move on to the Users and Groups and allow VPN access.

    Thanks for your reply Azul.

I had run the wizard through the SBS console and moved the relevant users into the VPN Network Group.

After some playing I've resolved it, it seems.

I had to tick the box to enable IPv4 forwarding under the IPv4 tab within the properties of the server in "Routing and Remote Access".

    Thanks again.
