    Need information about sun Solaris disaster recovery plan

    Hello friend, I am fresh in this domain, and on this operating system, but in my work, I have to get a method to create a disaster recovery plan for our server (sun Solaris) which has used the oracle database. I do not have any standby servers to be utilized for data duplication, I only need to utilize CD's to set on them all the system image of Solaris, to be prepared in case of any crash might occurs to the Solaris server. Do not familiar with am I understandable with my clarification? Waiting for your suggestion on that.

    As I know about the data recovery plan I am telling you that I am no Data recovery specialist but I would suppose you want the following at least. Postulation is that your server has moved out off the face of the planet and you have to begin from scratch. Another node - which you could re-establish to Full system backups, should be sufficient - as long as your data recovery site has full connectivity to the remaining your network. I do not know more about oracle - but I would suppose the full backup data should wrap it. I think it will you some help.

    OK, I would like to tell you that’s why I have the flar archive from the computer and at the time of making I got a pair of mistakes like cpio: "var/vx/isis/vea_portal”? And these files have a sticky bit

    ls -l /var/vx/isis/vea_portal
    srwxr-xr-x 1 root 0 Mar 10 14:16 /var/vx/isis/vea_portal

    but as well that I do think I have a flar archive. How do I backup it? It somewhere and verify its validity now? But I am also trying to solve this problem if anyone knows the right solution then please post here.

    When I read your problem then I tried /usr/bin/nsr/nwrecover from my nsr client but it didn’t get up the standard GUI. It did not do something, I thought it was taking time to release the window but it never did, it was as though it froze. But ultimately it purchased out a mistake message; nwrecover command cannot begin state with server "nsr server+hostname" isolated address unidentified: Remote machine error - no path to host.

    No. Nothing is incorrect with your library files. Initially, your machine patch level is very low. Then after you will boot the machine to failsafe mode. Than after you will do the ok. After that you will go on command prompt and then you will do a bootadm update-archive on the both disks (if copied). And finally you will reboot machine. You must have a few information on the troubleshooting. Don’t do that with the files system because it could be dangerous for system. If you don’t know about the file system.

    The tool you are searching is flar make, and it comes with your Solaris sharing.
    Flar => Flash archive
    I want to tell you about the flash archive that A flash archive is a screen shot of a whole system, including all loaded software, users, drivers and so on. Instance to make a full (also incremental probable) flash archive on a Solaris 9 SPARC server with compression allowed:

    root@sun-test-3 # flarcreate -n full-flash -R / -c -x /net full-flash
    where

    -n => the name seen at installation time

    full-flash => the name seen on the file system

    -c => compress

    -x => exclude directories, in example /net will be excluded

    -R => your root directory, or where to start (i think / is default)

    I think this is what you are looking about. see also "main flarcreate"
