There is nothing like it is not compatible with Windows XP. As you said that set up cannot load some files , the problem is with your XP CD. Try out some another CD and do it "Boot from CD".

What is the make or model of the lg dvd rw? Have you tried to upgrade its firmware, so it might be able to read dvd's properly. Which file is it not able to load when you try to install windows xp? Did you try to ignore that particular file which is not loading and continue to install xp? This problem generally happens when a cd is corrupt and not the drive.

Well, you need to tell us the model number of the lg dvd/cd drive that you have. You can try to go here and select the model number of your dvd drive and download its driver or firmware, so that it could be flashed to the latest version. Another way to install Windows xp would be to make a bootable USB installer for Windows, check the tips given in this thread - Install Windows XP from USB

Re: Cannot move back from Windows 7 to Windows Xp

Alright then, download the LG Super Multi DVD Writer Firmware 1.02 from here and do the firmware flash of your dvd drive, but first try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed a wrong driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.

Re: Cannot move back from Windows 7 to Windows Xp

When you say the internet connection and intergrated sound from XFX 750i motherboard are not working, then did you try to install its drivers in the very first place? Do you have the motherboard cd where all drivers for lan and sound can be installed from to your pc? If you dont have the mobo cd then download a software called DriverMax by searching it from google. DriverMax is a new tool that allows you to download the latest driver updates for your computer. No more searching for rare drivers on discs or on the web or inserting one installation CD after the other. Just create a free account, log in, and start downloading the updates that you need.
