Because Google Chrome OS is so basic, it is perfect breeding ground for other Linux distributions. Think of Slackware. Look at how many Linux distros were built from it! It's the same with Chrome, because of the fact that it's open source. Developers will be able to hack it and fork it into plenty of other operating systems based on Chrome's Linux kernel that could do a lot more than Chrome can now. For instance, they will be able to make a fork that supports conventional hard drives. Or perhaps create a fork that you will be able to put Linux, or even Android, applications on! The possibilities are endless.
