How to protect files in FAT32 system from deletion?

I have a one terabyte Hard disk in which I have stored a lot of important data, family photos and home videos. The file system is FAT32. I want to protect these photos and videos from accidental deletion, since the drive is used by many people. How can I protect a file from deletion in this FAT32 drive. My laptop runs Windows 7 Basic.

the best way here is that you can keep back up of all the data which is related to and also update the backup as the data gets updated. And if you don't want other to see it then create your user account on the same which is protected with a password and store all the data there. I am sure that data will be safe in there and the last option is hide the files by keeping them hidden but you can't keep the same for longer duration.

Thanks Rompage. I was looking for a way to write protect it. Obviously, that is an option available only under NTFS I guess. So I will follow your advice.
