    Smart command failed

I had a newly refurbished computer from Dell three months ago. When it came it was working fine but slowly it got locked for 15-30 minutes and then comes back to normal which we can use. As the days go it created more problem for me as it got lock up for number for minutes. And it got gradually increases every time I restart my system. After a while I got the error message as given below:
    • Disk read error
    • SMART command failed

I had been using barracuda 7200 SATA 750GB and it gave me the error above. Can anyone help me out to fix this problem?

Following are the instructions given below in order to overcome your problem:
    1. Restart or switch on your system
    2. Press Del tab continuously in order to go in BIOS settings
    3. Go to Smart Drive properties
    4. Disable it
    5. Save the changes
    6. Press esc
    7. Restart your system
    8. Now your system will boot normally
I hope these steps might work out for you as you would not need Smart drive for your system.

Try unplugging it and plug it on again to some other port or connect it to some other system. Copy your files to some other secondary memory devices. Try to make it new boot drive on other system by connecting it to secondary. Format the drive and make the partition as before. By this you can recover your data by using recovery software which is easily available on the net itself. After it worked out for you then connect it to your previous system and load Windows and then your data as well.
