Getting error 0x80004005 While installing sp1 for windows 7

Hello, this is third times that I try to install the service pack 1 of Windows 7 home 32 bit. The file loads, the PC reboots, and treatment is continued by ending error 0x80004005. And I keep getting gthis error. So to fix this I have I disabled the antivirus software (Microsoft Essential), the firewall as recommended by Microsoft I installed the scanning tool from Microsoft, and everything looks OK. By cons, on another PC in Windows 7 starter, everything went well the first time. Thank you.

I think in this one solution to try the repair your system. To start the reinstallation without data loss, it must be done since the partition of Windows 7 to repair. It is obviously necessary that there is enough space available and 9 GB seem insufficient for the repair windows. old creates a folder of about 9 GB Note the total sizes and occupied C: \ and D: \? Checks whether the files or windows.old.xxx on C: \ Do not try installing SP1 for now because the failure may stem from the lack of space. The hidden partition of 100 MB should not be concerned. For the rest, here's how it deletes files:

    • Click on Start All Programs menu
    • Select Accessories, then System Tools.
    • Click Disk Cleanup.
    • Choose the drive that is windows.old and validate
    • Select the Disk Cleanup tab
    • Check the box installations of Windows and validate
    • Confirm Delete

Yes I used the Windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe, recovered yesterday on the net, and not at Microsoft. What is unfortunate is that the update is hidden and we do not know precisely when the anomaly happens. I will try the second solution you propose, but the error is not quite the same (80070005 instead of 80004005). Last night there were 4 new patches, only one is properly spent. It must really be something that gene on my PC! Thank you for your help.

I am also going through the same issue and for me It's still a bit of a height to reach reinstall everything, even if the method can lose nothing of its environment. Why Microsoft gives no more specific than a vague code 0x! The procedure should be planted well in one place and not a specific action? Certainly it would be stupid to give us a dump to find the error, but a little more explanation on this code and its cause would be welcome. In fact, I'll disable anti-virus, but the Microsoft Security Essentials ... It would be a shame not necessarily planting their own updates! Thank you for your help, I'll keep you informed.

Sorry, but I did pack a restart when I received your answer. Again, it crashed again for the same code and 99% of the configuration after reboot! I run a quick cleanup on C: and recovered a few Megs...! If the problem I encounter is due to a lack of space, update the program could make that clear ...Meanwhile, extending a little to share the C: partition in clawing on the D, I do not know what else to do. Please help me here.
