Installing XP onto AHCI only system. BSOD. STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)
I need to install XP as the application I need to run needs full screen and Windows 7 will not get rid of the Taskbar. The system is an Advent Discovery MT1804 The BIOS does not let me switch off AHCI. it is fixed. Support is abismal, they cannot even provide drivers. From the BIOS Screen AHCI Port 0 [Hard Disk] AHCI Port 1 [ATAPI CDROM] I'm trying to load XP Pro from original CD. I've created a floppy with the Intel ICH9M 2929 drivers on it, latest from Intel, but even then I'm not certain I've got the right ones. When I load XP Pro, use F6 It chugs away for a while. It says the driver I want to load is newer than Windows, do I want to proceed? Well if it has one already why do I need a driver from floppy? It load iaStor.sys Asks me if I want to load others, but I have none, so onwards. It chugs away for a while then STOP : 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)? Perhaps it is still trying to find IDE disk drives. Particularly Do I need an AHCI driver as well? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Perhaps it need AHCI CD Drivers as well? How do I force the install to use AHCI? Any ideas? I've spen hours looking at websites, Microsoft's page on the subject is no help. Thanks Derek |

I am not sure that what can be the reason behind this issue. But you can refer this thread. They have also mentioned about the same error while installing Windows XP. You will find many of the posts to this. Just go through that and see if you can find any post helpful to you. Please reply with the solution that which solution helps you. Thank you. |

Windows XP does not use AHCI. Only Windows Vista and 7. If you want to install XP even in dual boot you'll have to change the mode to IDE or RAID. If you install XP in IDE or RAID mode and then switch to AHCI (in the BIOS) and boot to XP, your XP installation will probably get destroyed and you'll need to reinstall XP again (with IDE or RAID obviously). |
