    In windows 7 all my folders have become READ-ONLY

    I again have problems with Windows 7. All my files are grayed out with the attribute "read only" and if I uncheck the box, it will automatically recheck. Note that I am only user of my computer with all administrative rights. I tried, in addition, the classical manipulation of changing the allocation (letter r):attrib-r D: \ my folder (where D: is the letter of my drive) but I get an error message telling me that the-r parameter is not valid, which is false, as confirmed " attrib help ".I tried everything (lowercase or uppercase) but cannot edit this file allocation "read only" . Is there a virus specialist in this kind of scam? Needless to say I am well protected behind a router and firewall and Bit Defender thereafter, in addition to Spyware Blaster, Adware. If anyone has an idea please let me know to get rid of this issue. Thank you in advance.

    I also have this trouble an while searching on the internet I come across to this two software" Remove read only " and "Clear Read Only". Both behave the same way: they precedents removing the attribute "read only" (read only) in fractions of a second. But do nothing at all.In fact, everything is passed as if the attribute "read only" (which appears grayed out on my folders and files) was not visible in this specialized software that does not "see" not that a particular has this attribute. I have also scanned my system thinking that some virus may have change the setting, but I did not find any virus, if you have any suggestion regarding to this issue. Please let me know. Your suggestion would be appreciated.

    The problem is there in fact when Windows is an overview of your doc; it reads them and no longer allows changes to that file as you do not remove the preview. I have the same trouble on my windows system, since I have been running Ubuntu and it is much better. By the way I will recommend you to try the solutions:
    • Open your file, but then closes the window containing your document;

    • Start Word first, and then from Word you do File> Open.
    In both cases, the reading should only return.

    Re: In windows 7 all my folders have become READ-ONLY

    Thanks for your suggestion; In that case, can I have some more suggestion connecting the files in the folders. They are store on an External hard drive and at what time I open them in Photoshop (or else even windows photo viewer and so on) while I attempt to EDIT them I receive an error message stating that 'locked' as well as 'WRITE PROTECTED' (inside Photoshop). I must have wrongly considered it was to do through the properties of the folder. Strangely at what time I copy photos onto my computer I can alter them. As a result it shows as although it’s an problem of them being on the external hard drive up till now this has not been a trouble earlier than, so has somewhat altered to apply it as 'read only' or else to be 'write protected'?

    I also run into this trouble as well - When developing by means of Visual Studio, I construct my project well, run it; however after this I cannot reconstruct it, without eliminating the entire Debug-folder. This means I require rebuilding the whole project _all time I have made a single alteration of the project. This makes it extremely painful functioning this way, as you can recognize. And in reality – has not there been any respond to this. However I got it functioning through altering permissions of the Visual Studio exe, however I still believe it be supposed to be more understandable on how to perform it. I am not certain at all that my permissions are set up in a similar way at the moment.
