The issue is sometimes being found in the files of the Mint 10 that you are just making use of and also it is that the working of the file is said to be used for the application that is being used for the application of the Linux Mint 10. And see that if the working of the file is not being done properly then you have to uninstall the file of the Linux Mint and install the file of the Gnome for it. Gnome is the best when you are just making use of the file search option.

The other option that you can just make use of is just right click on to the empty spot that will be present in the Panel and then you have to select the option of the add panel and go to the Main menu of it. After that you can just install the set-up of files of the Gnome Menu and make use of it, for the finding of the files and various data from the system that you are just making use of. The setting of the files are being done well in the system of the Gnome.

The other option is that you can just try to uninstall the files of the Linux Mint Menu from the system that you are just making use and then install it again to the system that you are just making use of. Or else you can just check that the files that you are just putting to search is being present in the system that you are just making use of and also the step-up of the files are being done properly in the system that you are just making use of is perfect or not, is depended on you.
