Backup from Mac to Windows PC

Sponsored Links
I have this kind of issue so related to this if you have any suggestion then please share it. And the problems are: I've got an external hard drive to my Macbook. Now I want to save data on that disk. Overall on a Windows (XP) computer, which is on the network. Importantly, this calculator does not always! Now I am looking for a program that allows me to keep the data from the external hard drive on my Windows PC secure. The whole is to run automatically, eg once a day. In addition, the program is to recognize when the target computer is not available and then make that backup if it is reachable. The whole is assumed to be synchronized in one direction. Does that mean is that it always just the same as on the hard disk. Changes should be for example a file this file can not be completely re-copied over and 2 can be present times, but the file in the backup set to change with. This is to save all the space! I've now found the following three programs: arrsync, ChronoSync and Synk. Which one is the all of me? Which is to suggest?

Re: Backup from Mac to Windows PC

Actually quite simple:
  1. You map the plate over CIFS
  2. Way to configure time machine to your requirements
  3. Deleted because of the resounding coolness of the first two points!
  4. Scripts you have WakeOnLan command and the start of the backup right back at it and make the point X to run automatically

Yes this all sounds really cool - unfortunately I am not to understand completely. The drive mapping via CIFS? Does the server (Windows machine) on the CIFS or the Macbook? Per Time Machine back up external hard drive on other PC's but only if they are a little editing I thought and this possibility is supported by apple not official and is not recommended, and fourth I am unfortunately a real challenge. Could you explain the whole in detailed?

Re: Backup from Mac to Windows PC

I have solution so you just follow this in order to get rid from this issue:
  1. You'll get you a Windows 2000 Server CD (no, not in the store, there are places on the web at the funny people with suspected obscure distribute software agents). Do not worry, you will not need to install Windows 2000th On the CD (I know no longer where) you can find the services for Mac (SFM). These also work on XP.
  2. You give freely the folder and judge it on the Mac users as the starting object (in user settings).
  3. You configure Time Machine
  4. You just download a program for WoL it with the Automator (The best you can go through it every time)
  5. Time Machine does the rest!

Re: Backup from Mac to Windows PC

Into your existing network! So you can drive by both computers to easily keep in access and easily make a backup. For Mac users, with a twist even with Time Machine. If necessary, you can also remove the plate and use it again directly externally. And if you are thinking that it is easier then do this mistake because it is a kind of hard. So just do this with very patience so after that you will get fix for this.
