| Re: double booting linux mint with windows 7
Well what I can say from here is that if you are thinking of creating two partitions then do remember that only the 4 partitions can exist in a system. Like you can create the / home, / split and also the logical partitioning in the D:. I don’t think so that will be of any use. Coming back to your query that you had asked about the ntfs and the ext4. Then what I can say is that while dual booting whatever you have used for the windows or formatted for the windows then it will be there only for the ntfs while the logical section that you are thinking to use for the linux will be formatted to ext4. Hope you have got the necessary solution. |

Ok now I have partitioned my drive and small portion of the drive I have kept it for the games while the other important part of the hdd is have reserved for the files. That I will be using it with the linux. So I was thinking to use all the files in the ext 4 format but that does not seem to be possible from the above suggestion specified by you. Now I wanted to know that will I be able to burn a cd when I use a file from the linux operating system and will that cd be readable in the windows operating system. Do answer my query. |

Yes, you can. You can use a good burning software for the linux operating system. In my opinion Brasero that also comes with the GNOME DE can be used. It will ask you before burning the file if that particular file should be compatible with the windows or not. So you must click yes and it will burn the file accordingly such that it van be viewed in the windows operating system as well. So I hope you are cleared with all your queries. |

Ok I am clear out with most off my queries. I need to thank you for the solutions that you are giving me. I need to know whether the drivers for the different hardware can run in the same way as in the earlier one in the linux operating system. Should I test the compatibility before running any of the hardware in my computer. Or will I have to run a hard install of hardware to check if it works or not. I hope you will answer my this query as well. |

Yes definitely you will have to do with the initial testing part. For that you will have to test the functionality of the hardware in the live environment. There are some drivers that need a definite installation like the video drive while some of them do not need it. So my opinion would be to have a check with all the hardware’s if it is working or not. If it is giving some errors while running then you need to install the particular drive from the internet. |
