Try to follow these steps and check whether it helps you to fix this sound problem. At the first steps: open a Terminal and run the command given below:
    Code:
    Code: Select all
    alsamixer
After that press the F6 function key and then push buttons up:
    no achievement
    Code:
    Code: Select all
    gnome-alsamixer
If yet not installed, pursue the suggestion to install it.
    final suggestion:
    Code:
    Code: Select all
    pavucontrol

Confirm that the volume is not turned down by means of the sound applet in to your panel notification area that is the toolbar. In addition test any hardware manages your laptop might have which manage sound. If it is fine then open a terminal and enter the command alsamixer and after that push Enter button. This will unlock a terminal application which will let you alter audio inputs and outputs. The ledger at the apex will allow you choose [All] by means of F5, as well as F6 will allow you confirm the right sound card is chosen. If here is a [MM] underneath your speakers graph it means it is muted. Press m to enable it. If that does not repair the problem, then in the terminal type the command
    Code:
    Code: Select all
    inxi -A
And paste the output back in this thread. That will provide the further detail of your Laptop sound.

Re: Linux Mint: No sound on my LG P1 laptop

Now here are the answers of the terminal inputs:
    alsamixer:
    Code:
    Code: Select all
cannot open mixer: No such file or directory
    gnome-alsamixer:
    Code:
    Code: Select all
The program 'gnome-alsamixer' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
    sudo apt-get install gnome-alsamixer
    pavucontrol:
here it is screening me a dummy output

    inxi -A:
    Code:
    Code: Select all
Audio: Card Intel N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller
Here are some details regarding it. Hope this is helpful.

If you suggest "gnome-alsamixer", then you would have got the response at this point:The list 'gnome-alsamixer' is at present not set up. You can install it by entering the command:
    sudo apt-get install gnome-alsamixer
"alsamixer": begin Synaptik Package Manager along with look for "alsamixer"; as my "synaptik.png" illustrates, "alsa-utils" holds "alsamixer", perceive if it is spotted, if not mark it for installation and apply. If it is marked, uninstall and later on set up it again. Start Synaptic and hunt for the "alsamixer" or else "alsa-utils"; if not installed, install it; if it is installed, I suppose you must uninstall it and install it yet again.
