You have to check your Fedora 8 boot CD. Check it work properly or not. If there is a problem in your Fedora 8 boot CD then install Fedora 8 operating system by using another boot CD. I think you have to try Widows based operating system. It is easy to use and install. And commonly most of user use Widows based operating system. You have a option like Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Xp etc. So try it.
