Fedora Linux: How to configure Oracle with the server?

I am having a HP computer with the Fedora12 Linux environment with the server connectivity, recently installed the oracle 10g and tried this one to connect with the server that I have in the computer. Having the Firefox browser with the server connectivity and the browser is not permitting me to connect me the server. it shows me the connection error at 127.0.0.1:8080. Is there any problem in the operating system or anything else for the connectivity? I diagnose for the problem but it results me nothing. What should I do? How to connect with the server? any suggestion will be appreciated….

Re: Fedora Linux: How to configure Oracle with the server?

While you tried to make the connection of the Fedora Linux and the server, make sure that you are inserting correct user name and the password of the server connectivity. If you starting first with the “sudo” try with the su first and then start the listener with the oracle password from the computer access point. Use the keyword “lsnrctl” for checking the status of the connection and the keyword “lsnrctl” is used to start the listener. After inserting the user name and the password make sure the followings are showing in the connectivity screen while you truing with the Oracle 10g
    export ORACLE_BASE=/usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle
    export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_BASE/product/10.2.0/server
    export PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
    export ORACLE_HOME_LISTNER=$ORACLE_HOME
    export ORACLE_SID=XE

Re: Fedora Linux: How to configure Oracle with the server?

The error message that you mentioned in your post is may be for the Linux or the Oracle or for the both. The Oracle has a interface with the administrator which is used to access the web connection, try to access the server with that interface. You can access the interface with the IP address of the Firefox browser, the IP is look like “127.0.0.1:8080”. This is the local host IP of the server. By this you can able to access the port 8080 TCP/IP port of the server, except the access of the administrative web interface with the port number 80. Basically the Linux works with the port of the "1521", this one also can works with the 8080 web server. Unable the connection with the Firefox browser and then try to make the changes with the server access. Sure for that you will be able to connect the server connection.

Re: Fedora Linux: How to configure Oracle with the server?

The "Template Management" of the Oracle database Configuration is used the clone of the database that you are using with the Linux. It includes the structure of the existing database of the Oracle. Start the application window of the Database Configuration Assistant. Click on the next button on the welcome window of the application. Go for the "Manage Templates" option under the "Operations" screen and click on the next button. Select the option "Create a database template" along with that select the option with the option “from and structure of the existing database”. Select the relevant data in the "Source database" screen. Then proceed to the properties of the Template, insert the description and the name of the Template, and click on the next button. The Database Configuration Assistant after that gathers the databases for the server. Now try to access the server with the desired user-name and the password.

Re: Fedora Linux: How to configure Oracle with the server?

You have to make sure that the data which are retrieved from the Oracle database is with the Oracle's SQL Plus utility. If this one not happened then be sure that there is a problem on the installation or configuration of the Oracle client database. Remember that for that you have to install the SQL Net Easy or you can also use the Oracle Net8 Easy utility, which is used for the alias of the Oracle server. Are you using the Oracle administrator log in for the checking the necessary components of the Oracle are working or not? If you are using the Internet Information Server in your computer and there you installed the Oracle client server. make sure that you reboot the machine after the installation of the server in the Internet Information Server, because some times after the installation the system will require for the reboot the machine, otherwise it will not work properly.

Re: Fedora Linux: How to configure Oracle with the server?

In the Internet Information Server configuration window look for the copies of the file named as the OCIW32.dll. There must be one copy of that will be stored in the computer for the server access configuration. It will be placed in the \Bin subfolder of the Oracle installed file that is in your computer. If you found the file the files with the other name then .bak extension and then try to reset the connectivity. Are you running the server under the recommended versions of the components of the Oracle database? Make sure that you are using the Oracle client components for installed the locally in the server that you are using for the connectivity.
