Daylight savings time 2010 and DST update for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003

Daylight saving time(DST) is also known as the summer time. It can be defined as a practice of advancing the closk temporarily ahead of the current time in order to get more daylight in afternoons and less in the morning. Most probably the clock is forwarded one a\hour ahead of the current time somewhere around the start of spring which are adjusted again to normal in around the start of autumn.

This is to better match the hours of work with the daylight hours to limit the use of artificial lighting. The estimated savings result from lighting the implementation of the system from summer time. Applied in the United Kingdom and Ireland since the first world war and Italy since 1966, the regime of summer time was introduced in all countries of the European Union in the early 1980s. To facilitate transportation, communications and trade within the European Union, it was decided to standardize by directive of the European Parliament and Council, the dates of the time change. Thus, since 1998 for all countries of the European Union, the transition to daylight saving time occurs on the last Sunday in March at 2 o'clock in the morning and switching to winter time on the last Sunday October to 3:00 am. The system of DST is to add 60 minutes to standard time during the summer period (late March to late October).

An update for daylight saving time (DST) changes in 2007 is now available for computers that are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

In the spring of 2007, the start dates and the end dates for daylight saving time (DST) in the United States will change to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The dates will change as follows:

DST | In 2007 | In previous years
Start date | Second Sunday in March, 2:00 A.M | First Sunday in April, 2:00 A.M.
End date | First Sunday in November, 2:00 A.M. | Last Sunday in October, 2:00 A.M.

A time zone update for DST that will address this issue for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 is now available. This update includes the following:

• The new 2007 DST start dates and end dates for the United States.
• Changes to DST and time zone settings that will occur in Canada in 2007 (except in Newfoundland).
• Changes to DST and time zone settings that have occurred since the products in the "Applies to" section were originally released. For example, this update includes some changes that were previously released as individual updates and documented in articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

Note: This update is cumulative. Therefore, if you have not yet applied either of the security updates that are described in the following security bulletins, you may have to change the Send As permissions on your mobile device to make sure that the mobile device continues to function as you expect.

• MS06-019 (Store.exe version 6.5.7233.69 or a later version of Store.exe)
• MS06-029 (Store.exe version 6.5.7650.28 or a later version of Store.exe)
