Shut down Virus in Windows XP

I have a problem in my Windows XP PC that it shuts down on its own after running for half an hour to 2 hours. I guess it was the download of 2 GB file that has caused some virus to enter my PC. Please suggest the best way for getting rid of this problem.

Re: Shut down Virus in Windows XP

You can do a system restore for your system for removing the files that are infected. You can also use the antivirus software for your system, I will suggest to use avast antivirus for your system. You just need to make sure that you have updated all the XP patches. I hope this will solve your problem.
