Office 2010,Excel document not getting saved

I've got a computer at my work that arbitrarily have "Document not saved" error when trying to save excel files on the local network. In periods It happen every time I try in to save, but It most happen like now and then. I had the same problem when I was using Office 2007. I thought that it was office 2007 issue but when upgraded to Office 2010 It happens often as before. I've have been trying some hot fixes and some other tricks for Office 2010.

I have a user with the same problem. The problem occurs when we upgraded from Office2007 to Office2010. It is an issue while saving to a network drive. We can save to other network drives and can to local PC also.

It is the same issue on Windows 7 and Office 2010 machines, when saving to network Share. Error "Document not saved" occurs in Excel when we save it first time, regularly will save efficiently on second and succeeding attempts. happen locally and isolated via VPN. Restart Excel, and first save fails again.

I’ve used all the above troubleshooting measures been all the way through the above troubleshooting measures - none of them illustrated this issue. I have a <simple> test Excel spreadsheet with only text and can replicate the "Document not saved" error at will.I have used HOT FIX KB983458 for KB980232 and removing both of them w/o motion

Many of the computers do not have the security update KB980232 installed yet though they are up-to-date date with the Microsoft updates. I searched the whole registry was not able to find it anywhere. So just removing the KB980232 is not a solution in this case. So then I went to this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/983458/en-us and downloaded the hot fix. The problem is permanent after I installed this hot fix. It is better to install hot fix rather than removing the security update KB980232. I think this may help you
