Windows 7 operating system fallout 3 patch

I have taken a new Sony Vaio Laptop for my personal use with Intel i3 processor. I am using the windows vista operating system in it. When I up load fallout 3 patch on my windows vista operating system on my computer system it crashes. Does anyone have any idea how I can solve the problem from my computer system? Any help related to this same problem will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
