Re: Forgot Windows 7 security password after changing BIOS settings

In addition to passwords of different users, Windows stores a number of other, equally important: password connect to the Internet, mailbox password, or access to web-sites. They are usually quite a lot, so it is natural that they eventually forgotten. The operating system offers the AutoComplete feature for passwords and other information are often introduced in Internet Explorer. So it's not uncommon situation where the user enters the password once, and several months later, of course, can not remember it. Everyone understands that the important passwords need to write, but do so much more.

The solution offers programs from different manufacturers that can get the password from this string of asterisks. There are many freeware programs for Windows decrypt passwords or hidden passwords of the input lines Internet Explorer. You can use an Asterisk Key from the company Passware. It's easy to use freeware program that examines the hidden asterisk passwords and reports them to you. Since it is very easy to work with. Simply select a string with a password and press 'recover'.

This part of the SAM file is encrypted system utility syskey, to improve the security of passwords. The data needed to decrypt the information after syskey, stored in a file system in the same folder. But this folder is not available to anyone of the users. Access to it has only the operating system itself during its operation. Get access to the SAM file system can only be managed by another operating system, or connect the drive to another computer running Windows.

If a user forgets the password the computer, which is in a workgroup or is a standalone, you should verify the password hint (hint is located on the Welcome screen, next to the field for entering a password).
If the hint does not help remember your password, you must sign in with a computer administrator account and create a new password. To change the user password, To perform this procedure must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group (if your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may prevent you from completing this procedure).
  • Click Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> User Accounts;
  • On the Users tab, select the user name whose password you want to change and click Reset Password;
  • Enter and confirm the new password (for password change), or leave the field blank (for password reset) -> OK.

Reset the password using the built-in Administrator account (in safe mode) When you boot / reboot your PC, press F8; In the Advanced Options Menu, select Safe Mode. Select a built-in Administrator account (Administrator), which by default is not password protected (you can choose any account of any member of the Administrators group, the password is known to you / or absent). In the window desktop with a message that Windows is running in Safe Mode, click Yes. After loading the desktop, click Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts. Click the account whose password must be reset. Select the left menu, click Change Password. In the Change account password, enter and confirm your new password (for password change), or leave the field blank (for password reset). Click on Change Password. Close the User Accounts. Close the Control Panel window. Restart the PC.
