Your issue sounds that you have some problem with harddisk. Your hard disk is not completely dead but it need some treatment.Your hard drive may have failed. I will suggest you to backup all your files, all your important data which you can. Decide what new drive you want to install.Does the system boot?

Actually this type of problem are caused by some another application taken from the web. You can fix it just by using the restore system. If you are getting this message try to determine the program causing this type of error , if you are unable to identify then disable some unnecessary program under startup on msnconfig. After doing all this, restart the computer and it should now work properly.

It is normal for you to have this error code during diagnostic process specially when you are using 32bit diagnostic. This happen because it mainly detects all the external peripherals and normally it happen that your optical drive does not have any disk then you will have this error. You can get rid from this error by disabling certain apps on startup. If you want to get summary of this you can run the custom test under diagnostic.

This error message is displayed if you got a bad hard drive. Try to replace it and this may also happen due to bad board. Try to detect the hard disk in the BIOS setup. If you think that disk does not have any problem then try various iterations of booting up from disc, chkdsk, fixboot. And finally it will go through safe made.
