    libstdc++ support under Ubuntu

    Hello,
    I have freshly installed Ubuntu and now in trying to run my GWT hosted browser, but I get the following
    libstdc + +. so.5: can not open shared object file: No such file or directory
    Never mind, I install libstdc + +5 (as usual ... what)
    Code:
    $ Apt-get install libstdc + +5
    [...]
    E: Could not find package libstdc + +5
    Yet I have almost all the rest enabled (universe, partner ...). This suggests that the libstdc + +5 is no longer supported under Ubuntu. Is this true? Do you have any idea regarding the same? Thank you.

    Have you tried creating a symbolic link?
    Here is the command, please be the root user when you fire this command
    Code:
    sudo ln-s / usr / lib / libstdc + +. so.6 / usr / lib / libstdc + +. so
    Though I am not user of this but I think this can work for you.

    Is the version number of this library has changed is for a good reason? The ABI has changed between the libstdc + +5 and 6, with your symbolic link (which is also spelled backwards) applications that will plant the best, or produce corrupt data. Other than that, it seems that one can find this package on the official site.

    Re: libstdc++ support under Ubuntu

    Hello,
    I tried the "ln-s ..." but unfortunately, it just allows me to move to another error:

    Code:
    / Opt/repo/gwt / usr / lib / libstdc + +. version `GLIBCPP_3.2 'not found
    The API changes too much for the deception works. My thought also to get the debian elsewhere (also on an old ubuntu has to work also), but I confess that I hoped to find something more "elegant" (such a backport, but again I drew a blank). Meanwhile, the proposed answer solved my problem. Not the way I hoped, but I guess that can work. Any more help is appreciated.

    Re: libstdc++ support under Ubuntu

    From my side I wanted the package installed for my UPS (mgeops-PSP), but it is stated:
    Code:
    Error: Dependency not satisfied: libstdc + +5 (> = 1:3.3.4-1)
    libstdc + +6 is already present on my PC, but inevitably, it does not suit. The package for my UPS is retrieved from the Debian site. Can you please help me solve this problem. Thank you.

    Well thank you very much, it works. It's simple really, when we know It will take MGE / EATON make an update of their package.

    so I understand that Z600 is the 32-libs and ia32 allows code execution on a 32bit arch 64. I already have the package installed so you say there must be something else. If you have any other idea then please post back.

    Re: libstdc++ support under Ubuntu

    Ubuntu does not provide the file libstdc + +. So.5 32-bit version in their packages, not even in the package ia32-libs. That's why you need to extract this file from package Debian correspondent. If you have already installed the package ia32-libs in Ubuntu, so do not try to install in Debian, but only the necessary file extra as I have indicated.
