    Windows 7 Hard drive permissions

I have got the new hard drive for my system which was running with the Windows 7. I have placed the new 1 Terabyte hard drive into the system and installed the clean copy of the Windows on it. But when i am trying to fetch some file from old drive to new drive it is showing that i am not having enough permission to perform the operation. I have logged in as Administrator still not getting it work. So if you can then please let me know solution to work with the issue. Thanks in advance.

If that is not working with the issue of yours then i will first advise you to uninstall the disk drive from which you wanted to copy the data i.e. older Hard drive, and later on again install the same by connecting the same to the computer. But make sure after disconnecting you should turn off the computer and then remove from the system.

It might be possible that the file which you are trying to copy is not having the enough permission for copying. So you have to set the permission for that file and folder and see whether you are getting it work with the issue of yours or not. Just follow the below given step for same.
    • Right-click on the file
    • Select Properties
    • Click the Security tab
    • Click on Advance
    • Click on Owner Tab
    • Click on Administrator
    • Click on Administrators group
    • Click on OK

Re: Windows 7 Hard drive permissions

You must be logged on to Windows as an administrator in order to change security permissions for a file or a folder. If the computer is your personal computer, you are likely already logged on with an administrator account. If the computer is part of a network at work, you might have to ask the system administrator for help. For more detail click here.
